Javier's background reflects a variety of experiences in theater, video production, education and learning experience design (LX Design) in the corporate sector. He holds degrees from UCLA and Chapman University as well as continuing education certificates from UC Irvine and UCLA Extension.
In 2005 Javier began teaching at the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts/LACHSA, where he served for eleven years first as an English Teacher, then as a founding instructor of a robust Cinematic Arts program that he helped to establish there, teaching courses in Digital Film Production, Cinematography, Screenwriting, Film Theory and Cinema History.
To date, Javier has shot 12 films and looking forward to more. His projects have landed in film festivals throughout the country including The Palm Springs International Short Film Festival, Dances With Films, The Pan‐African Film Festival, and the LA Indie Film Fest where Chasing Red was awarded Best of Fest for 2015.
So far in 2019, two of his films have garnered an Audience Choice Award and a Jury Prize from the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival and the Gary International Black Film Festival, respectively.
Also in 2019, Javier began training as an E-Learning/Instructional Designer through UC Irvine's Continuing Education Program, where he is developing an online, asynchronous course in Film Theory.
